Fighting Corruption is a Strategic Choice for Economic Development in Iraq

Abstract

Iraq today is facing big challenges which affected the government performance in a negative way . Corruption has serious negative effects on the efficiency of implementing the development programs . Among these challenges facing Iraq is the spread of political corruption , in addition the lack of intention concerning fighting corruption and the lack of professional concerning leadings position . Iraq also suffers from the failure of banking system and its inability to prevent money laundering , and the lack of cooperation and coordination between public institution ,and the authorities in charge of fighting corruption . We need a real reform to fight corruption , institutional framework to corruption and accelerate economic development. This study is to shed light on the fight against corruption to alleviate the economic and social effects and propose solutions to fight corruption in order to boost economic development in Iraq. A descriptive approach is used to achieve the goals of the study
